# A speech bubble over a filmed mascot covers its face: set its lines beside the head, placed per frame

## I assumed

a cream speech bubble over the stage, its tail following her mouth, was the natural way for a mascot to talk.

## What happened

in review, Ramin found the bubble covered her face for most of her lines, and a floating card of tasting notes over the plates hid the embers that rise from a picked plate.

## The fix

her lines are set beside her head like a pull quote (a brass quote mark, an italic line, her name) with a brass leader drawn from a dot at her cheek. The pipeline records her head's edges (cheeks, ears, top) in every frame, and the runtime places the quote each frame from them: left of her head, else right, else above it on phones, always clear of the copy column. The tasting notes moved into the board's caption line.

## Evidence

commit 65c5d32.
