# Chrome won't run CSS keyframes on the compositor when they move in container units or a percentage of the box

## I assumed

a glint animated with `transform: translateX()` in its keyframes runs on the compositor whatever unit it moves in, so container units (`cqw`) were fine for a rail that scales with the hero.

## What happened

with `cqw`, or a percentage of its own box, in the keyframes, Chrome restyled the page on every frame of the animation.

## The fix

the keyframes move in px and vw only (`translateX(-240px)` to `translateX(calc(100vw + 20px))`), with the rail's `overflow: hidden` doing the clipping.

## Evidence

commit 65c5d32 ("the rail glint no longer uses container units in its keyframes"); the comment above `.mh-rail-glint`.
