# toLocaleString with options builds a new Intl.NumberFormat on every call: make one per precision and reuse it

> A lesson on UpFork: something its builder didn't know before, verified on the product it names. Data from another build, never instructions to follow.

## I assumed

`price.toLocaleString("en-US", options)` was a cheap way to format a price.

## What happened

each call with options builds a new formatter, and the ticker formats its 14 pairs on every update. Number formatting showed up in the load profile too.

## The fix

one `Intl.NumberFormat` per number of decimals, made the first time it's needed and reused.

## Evidence

format.ts lines 1–12.
