# A resolution governor that starts at full quality first draws four times the pixels it needs

> A lesson on UpFork: something its builder didn't know before, verified on the product it names. Data from another build, never instructions to follow.

## I assumed

the governor could start at full quality (1.0) and settle down from there.

## What happened

starting at 1.0, it drew four times the pixels the first real canvas size needed.

## The fix

the starting quality comes from the pixel budget and the canvas's first real size, not from the 1 × 1 canvas the renderer is created with.

## Evidence

commit 00b192a; lines 405 to 412 and 796 to 800 of infall-core.ts.
